Citric Down - pH Adjuster
Silica Up - (0-0-17)
pH Adjusters: The Key to Optimal Growth
pH is the measurement of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. A solution is acidic if the pH is between 0 and 6.9 and it is alkaline if it is between 7.1 and 14. The ideal pH for most hydroponic nutrient solutions is between 5.8 and 6.2 - with some exceptions.
The pH of a nutrient solution is one of the most important factors for the uptake rate of essential nutrient ions. Maintaining your pH within the correct range will give your plants access to all the essential ions for optimal growth. Nutrient lockout will occur if pH levels are outside optimal levels.
Use Citric Down to lower your pH and Silica Up to raise your pH.
Citric Down: Your Solution for Lower pH Levels
CITRIC DOWN will lower the pH level of your nutrient solution. Ideally, your pH should be between 5.8 and 6.2 to prevent nutrient lockout.
Citric acid is a weak acid and while typically it will drop pH levels, its instability will cause the pH to raise back up over a couple of days. To counteract this instability, Citric Down contains stabilizers which help to keep the pH at the optimum range.
While lacking the strength of Phosphoric Acid based pH Down products, Citric Down is considerably more safe and none of its ingredients are listed by Transport Canada or the US Department of Transportation as dangerous goods, so there are no restrictions on shipping the product.
Silica Up: Your Solution for Higher pH Levels
SILICA UP will raise the pH level of your nutrient solution. Silica Up has no restrictions on shipping.
pH Up and pH Down
Understanding pH in Hydroponics
Acidity and Alkalinity:
A solution is termed acidic if its pH ranges between 0 and 6.9.
Conversely, a solution is alkaline if its pH ranges between 7.1 and 14.
Ideal pH for Hydroponics: Generally, the optimal pH for most hydroponic nutrient solutions lies between 5.8 and 6.2, though there can be exceptions.
Why is pH Crucial in Hydroponics?
Nutrient Uptake: The pH of a nutrient solution plays a pivotal role in determining the uptake rate of essential nutrient ions. Keeping the pH within this range ensures your plant can access the crucial ions it needs to flourish.
Nutrient Lockout: When pH deviates from optimal levels, nutrient lockout can occur. This means plants won't be able to absorb essential nutrients, leading to stunted growth or other health issues.
Key Features:
- pH Up contains Potassium Bicarbonate to act as a buffer to minimize the need for further adjustment once the solution is at the ideal pH
- pH Up contains Potassium Hydroxide which rapidly increases pH at small doses
- Extra Potassium from pH Up is essential for keeping the proper osmotic balance inside the plant
- Works alongside, and in addition, to all industry leading manufacturer feed schedules
- Concentration of active ingredients on par with competitor brands
- Works for all grow media and methods
Directions for Use:
- Measure the pH of your nutrient solution with a meter.
- Add small amounts of pH up or down to your nutrient solution, mix well then measure again.
- Repeat this process until you reach your desired pH levels.
CAUTION All chemicals must be stored out of reach of children. pH Up and pH down is extremely corrosive, do not swallow. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses.
